The second Detours cocktail (see the first here), Fortuitous Trees, transforms a martini into a stiff walk in woods, mellowed by a hint of cucumber.
I think I'll add a little cucumber juice next time, though a sake might actually work too (and change the conceptual idea). An addition that rounded out the flavor and added some body could bring a lot to this cocktail.
2 oz Letherbee Gin
0.5 oz BroVo Douglas Fir liqueur
0.5 oz Dolin Dry
2 dashes orange bitters
1 dash cucumber bitters
Lemon expressed over drink.
Pairing idea #1 - deviled egg, lots of dill
Pairing idea #2 - oyster with mignonette
